RECESSMVMT (2021-2023)

Kallie launched RECESSMVMT, an arts-based nonprofit project, in the spring of 2021 as a response to the widespread despair post-2020. Unable to shake the historical reality "that when a society is in great danger, artists sound the alarm" (K. Vonnegut), she began exploring the concept of art's power to re-form and re-build a generation. This journey led to her creating the project's first creative campaign titled "Art Rebuilds," which contended that "in times of chaos, isolation and division, art will be the bridge, rebuilding souls and cities."

Underneath the Art Rebuilds umbrella, Kallie spearheaded a wide variety of projects, working with over a hundred local artists. Her heart in every project was to "Advocate for the artists of our time." She says, "Too many young people are spinning their creative wheels settling on making 'content' because it's convenient and trendy, and it's really a shame. I wish people grasped the immeasurable edifying power that our simple creative acts can hold, if we let them." Such projects included the March On Market (3.20.21), Hear Our Roar (Summer 2021), The Art of Rebuilding (Fall 2021-Spring 2023) and culminating in Not Another Conspiracy (April 2023).
